Alumni Week Highlights Excellence and Engagement

UC Alumni Celebration is Focal Point of Salute to Bearcats’ Profound Impact
|
Over more than two centuries, many factors have combined to make the University of Cincinnati a leader among public research institutions. By far, the most important has been the remarkable achievements and enormous impact of our alumni, for what better measure of a university’s worth is there than the success of its graduates?
That’s the spirit behind Alumni Week, our springtime spotlight on UC’s alumni family. This year’s edition runs April 7-13, featuring a range of experiences — from an insightful BEARCATS/Lead event and our 24-hour UC Day of Giving challenge to the Golden Bearcats Society Reunion and our traditional Bearcats at the Ballpark evening at a Cincinnati Reds game. Of course, the cornerstone of Alumni Week is the UC Alumni Celebration on April 10 at Cincinnati Music Hall, where we’ll highlight alumni excellence by honoring 18 uniquely accomplished Bearcats for their leadership and professional success. Included is the unveiling of a powerful new mural on Vine Street in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood featuring our honorees, and rightly so; as we’ve seen with previous Alumni Celebrations, these alumni portray and personify the kind of impact a UC education embodies.
Our group of Alumni Celebration honorees is led by premier entertainment industry dealmaker and William Howard Taft Medalist Darrell D. Miller, Esq., CCM ’85; private equity investor, UC champion and volunteer leader, and Robert E. Dobbs Distinguished Service Award recipient Phil D. Collins, Bus ’89; actress, co-founder of LATINAS ACTING UP, and Marian A. Spencer Mosaic Award honoree Diana Maria Riva, CCM ’91, ’95; and artificial intelligence innovator and Jeffrey Hurwitz Young Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award recipient Nick Ernest, CEAS ’11, ’12, ’15.
I hope you’ll have the opportunity to join us next week for one or more of these experiences, help us celebrate the breakthrough success so prevalent within the UC alumni family, and further strengthen your relationship with your alma mater.
