Bearcats Family Unites to Give with Heart

At UC, Life-Changing Philanthropy Comes in All Shapes and Sizes, for Variety of Causes
|
The university’s impact is immeasurable. UC’s reach extends far beyond our campuses, advancing research, improving health, shaping industries, and transforming lives. That kind of influence inspires generosity in many forms, from major commitments that redefine what is possible to grassroots giving that fuels our daily mission. Two current examples highlight this broad spectrum of philanthropy in action.
The Gardner Family Foundation recently made a $20 million commitment to the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute. The gift will accelerate cutting-edge research, expand specialized care in memory disorders, and propel the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute’s efforts toward designation by the Institute on Aging as an Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, which opens a new level of collaboration and discovery. Such transformative gifts elevate UC’s impact, driving breakthroughs that will benefit countless lives for years to come.
Meanwhile, we’re preparing for the 2025 edition of Giving Tuesday on Dec. 2. It’s the annual, 24-hour campaign where the Bearcat family unites to give with heart. Just as the $20 million Gardner gift targets the institute's vital work, on Giving Tuesday thousands of individual gifts are directed to the UC and UC Health causes that matter most to each donor. For instance, a $25 gift to the Bearcats Pantry can feed a student for a week. When combined, this collective support demonstrates the shared commitment that drives UC forward. Additionally, anyone giving $20 or more on Giving Tuesday will receive this year’s collectible Cincy ornament.
Beyond being an intensely personal and powerful act of generosity, philanthropy is also an investment in our fellow Bearcats for Life and the future we are shaping together. And it’s a meaningful way to express our gratitude for the many ways UC changed our lives for the better.
Go Bearcats!
