Commencement, Alumni Celebration Underscore UC Connections

New Graduates Start Alumni Journey with Inspiration from Fellow Bearcats for Life
|
While we didn’t necessarily plan it this way, just two weeks separated the UC Alumni Association’s annual Alumni Celebration and UC’s Spring Commencement. And for their obvious differences, these two major events are bound by an enormously important common thread. At Commencement, we rejoice in our new graduates’ life-changing achievement of earning a UC degree and beginning a fulfilling career. At the Alumni Celebration, we pay tribute to those among us whose innovation and impact as professionals illustrate what our dedicated graduates can and will become.
Eighteen outstanding alumni were honored at the April 16 Alumni Celebration. Drawn from a wide variety of disciplines, they provide living proof of how individual excellence creates profound ripples through their industries and communities. Last week, nearly 8,000 new graduates — a UC record — took the first big step toward making their own indelible impression on the world. They don’t have to look far for inspiration. In fact, they only need to travel down Vine Street to see the new mural in Over-the-Rhine that depicts their fellow Bearcats, honors their stellar accomplishments, and gently challenges this generation to boldly define NEXT in their own ways.
Whether you’re Vinod Dham, CEAS ’77, the “Father of the Pentium Chip” and our newest William Howard Taft Medalist, or a newly minted member of the Class of ’26 eager to carve your own niche in a rapidly changing world, you have one great advantage in life: You’re a Bearcat possessing the institutional DNA that encourages you to dream as big as you dare, because the possibilities are endless. And at the UC Alumni Association, we’re proud to help Bearcats leverage that advantage throughout the journey.
