Signature Initiative Leverages UC’s ‘Innovation DNA’

NEXT Innovation Scholars Program Helps Carry on Institutional Legacy
|
Innovation has always been a hallmark of UC — we created cooperative education, after all. Employing an innovative approach in everything we do remains central to the university’s ethos, and it’s never been more evident than right now. You can see it manifested through such pillars as the 1819 Innovation Hub and Co-op 2.0, in the breakthrough accomplishments of our alumni, and in the ways our students are challenged to realize their full potential and make a substantial impact. This is exemplified by our NEXT Innovation Scholars Program.
Society faces constant change and complicated global challenges, which create opportunities for innovation and transformation. This landscape demands a steady influx of talent with the knowledge, tools and responsiveness to boldly create the future rather than react to it. The NEXT Innovation Scholars Program answers the call by recruiting and developing forward-thinking problem solvers who embrace ambiguity with the curiosity and confidence required of innovative leaders. Fully aligned with UC’s Next Lives Here strategic direction and using an inherently human-centric approach, it builds upon and supplements traditional degree programs, leveraging UC’s signature strengths and strategic relationships to immerse our NEXT Innovation Scholars in the fields, disciplines and cultures where creative minds can thrive.
Our alma mater’s reputation has been made largely through the innovative achievements of our alumni, who exhibit excellence in countless walks of life. We honored this success just last month at the UC Alumni Celebration, specifically recognizing 18 accomplished Bearcats. Without a doubt, future alumni honorees will arise from the outstanding students who comprise the impressive cohorts of NEXT Innovation Scholars — which means we can come full circle and safely say that innovation will always be a hallmark of UC.
Go Bearcats!
