Onyx & Ruby Gala Celebrates Excellence
|
BLACK HISTORY MONTH INCLUDES RECOGNIZING BLACK BEARCATS MAKING HISTORY
|
As our African American Alumni Affiliate (4A) prepares to host the 10th edition of the Onyx & Ruby Gala on Feb. 17, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the importance of this signature event, which anchors our recognition of Black History Month.
Through the Onyx & Ruby Gala, we celebrate alumni success and the overall excellence of UC’s Black community. As represented in the event’s slate of honorees, their achievements are inspiring and their impact remarkable. Moreover, the gala serves as 4A’s primary fundraiser for the Shani Scholarship Fund, which helps several students each year pursue international co-op and study-abroad opportunities to enrich their college experience and positively influence their career prospects after graduation. No doubt some of these Shani Scholars will return to future Onyx & Ruby Galas as honorees who have made their unique mark on their professions and in their communities.
We’re grateful to the alumni volunteers, attendees and supporters whose belief and commitment have brought us together in celebration through the Onyx & Ruby Gala over the years. Through this premier event, we're thrilled to share stories and honor members of UC's Black community while connecting alumni back to our alma mater. It’s an incredibly special event and I encourage all of you to attend the Onyx & Ruby Gala or support the Shani Scholarship Fund.
